"Fitz Roy"

Mount Fitz Roy has been on my bucket list for a long time. And while I’ve only seen it in photos so far, there’s just something about it that stops you in your tracks. The sheer granite walls rising straight out of a crystal clear glacial lake make it feel like no where else in the world. 

In this piece I wanted to capture that rare sunrise moment when the summit turns a warm gold and the clouds drift off the top like smoke, leaving a soft pinkish glow in the sky. Each section in this three dimensional layered piece was cut, shaped, and poured by hand to get as close to that feeling as possible.

Composed of: Epoxy resin (alpine lake and alpenglow sky), 350+ pieces of reclaimed weathered barnwood (some over 100 years old), and an oak hardwood frame.
